Russia Wagner Group: Andrei Troshev, the new commander of the mercenary army group Wagner in Russia, is now actively working for the Defense Ministry. Russian state media gave this information citing Kremlin. Andrei Troshev was announced as Wagner’s chief in July.

Russia-owned domestic news agency (RIA) quoted the information related to Andrei Troshev to Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson of the Presidential Press Secretary. Soon after this (September 29) morning, Vladimir Putin met the Wagner commander as well as Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

Putin’s favorite candidate
The Kremlin informed that Vladimir Putin, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and Andrei Troshev met together to discuss the use of combat units in the Ukraine war. During this, Vladimir Putin told Troshev that he himself has been involved in this fight for the last one year. You know what it is, how it is done. Let us tell you that in July Putin had said that Troshev was capable of replacing former Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin and was his preferred candidate. Who is Andrey Troshev?
According to sanctions documents published by the EU and France, Andrey Troshev is a retired Russian colonel and founding member of the Wagner Group. The European Union has informed about Troshev that he worked as the chief of staff of Wagner Group’s operations in Syria. Troshev was born in April 1953 in Leningrad, former Soviet Union.

Andrei Troshev is directly involved in the Wagner Group’s military operations in Syria. He has made an important contribution in the war with Bashar al-Assad. He supports the Syrian regime. Andre Nikolayevich Troshev was chief executive of Wagner Group from June 2022, according to the United Kingdom. He is considered a veteran of Chechnya and Afghanistan wars. Troshev was awarded two Orders of the Red Star for his service in Afghanistan.
