Ever since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that India was behind the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, relations between the two countries have deteriorated significantly. India and Canada have also expelled each other’s High Commissioners from their respective countries.

Not only this, PM Trudeau is also continuously making statements against India on different forums. Amidst these tensions, the Foreign Minister of India has currently gone to America to participate in the UNGA meeting.

There he also discussed this entire matter with US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken. But it seems as if America is using its own diplomatic tactics amid India-Canada tension.

Actually, according to a New York Times report published on September 23, after the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, America itself had given intelligence information to its Canadian counterparts, but Canada took a different meaning from this information. Since then, Canada has been accusing India of conspiracy to murder Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

After this action of America, questions started being raised that when the relations between India and America are so good, the strategic partnership between the two countries seemed to be entering the phase of mutual trust, then in such a situation America gave unconfirmed reports to Canada. Why did you try to instigate?

America was also well aware that their action of provoking Canada would not only encourage Khalistani elements, but could also jeopardize India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Will India-America relations deteriorate if they support Canada?

At present India and America not only share good relations but are also strategic partners of each other. In such a situation, if America openly supports Canada, then the feeling of doubt about America will be restored within India too.

On one hand, America and India have been talking about taking the strategic partnership to sky-high heights on the basis of mutual trust and equality. On the other hand, seeing the way America has remained a supporter of Canada in the India Canada issue, India may feel the need to reconsider its relationship with America.

This action of America can affect not only their relations with India but also their resolve to unite against China’s aggressive policies in the Indo-Pacific, as well as joint military maneuvers and defense relations. ="text-align: justify;">Foreign policy is made keeping in mind public sentiments

After the recent controversy, America’s stance will also influence the policy of increasing cooperation and partnership with America. If understood in simple language, being a democratic country, India has to make its foreign policy keeping in mind the sentiments of the people of its country.

In such a situation, America’s action to instigate Canada against India by giving unconfirmed and raw information in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case can turn the people of India against America.

America’s stance on Canada-India tension from the beginning

When the Prime Minister of Canada for the first time accused the Parliament of India’s involvement in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. After that many countries gave their response. At that time, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller had said, ‘We are concerned by the allegations of Canadian PM Trudeau. We are in touch with Canadian colleagues. He further said that Canada’s investigation should be taken forward and the criminals should be brought to justice.

Apart from this, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had appealed to India to cooperate in the investigation. All the statements that have come so far from the American government in this entire matter can be seen to be linked to Canada’s support

Can America upset India for Canada?

In response to this question, Charles Meyers, founder of America’s political strategy firm Sygnum Global Advisors, said in an American newspaper that our country is doing everything to come closer to India so that China can be defeated. In such a situation, America would like to keep itself away from the India-Canada dispute.

Apart from this, American defense expert and former Pentagon official Michael Rubin has also supported India in the India Canada dispute. He had said that Hardeep Singh Nijjar was not a decent man.

He said that if India has also done the same thing as America did with Osama Bin Laden and Qasim Sulemani, then there is not much difference in it. Rubin had also said in one of his statements that Canada PM Justin Trudeau has himself got trapped by making such allegations against India and now he will have to answer why Canada gave shelter to a terrorist.

What is the matter of murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar

On June 18, pro-Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada. Three months after this incident, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement that the Indian government may be behind this murder.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claims that Indian agents have murdered a citizen of his country. After this matter gained momentum, Canada asked the Indian diplomat to leave the country. In response, India has also ordered the Canadian diplomat to leave the country.

Now the increasing tension between the two countries has worried India and Canada as well as other world leaders.  Relations between the two countries have reached their lowest level in recent years.

India’s response to Justin Trudeau’s statement

Just a few days before this whole matter, Trudeau had said that Canada would take action against Nijjar’s murder. "weeks ago" Evidence was shared with India. According to Trudeau, he had asked India to cooperate with Ottawa’s investigation to get to the bottom of this matter. Whereas the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India says that no information has been shared by Canada on this matter. We have made it very clear that we are willing to see any specific information.

Now let us know what other state leaders of the world said on this matter

When PM Modi came here, the people of Indian origin living here gave him a grand welcome. Seeing this, I said this and he was welcomed exactly the same as the other guests.

After G-20, relations between the two countries continued to sour

G-20 conference was organized in the capital Delhi on 9 and 10 September. Representatives of many countries had reached India in this conference. However, since the end of the G-20 conference, distance is being seen in the relations between the two countries. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had stopped negotiations on bilateral free trade agreement with India as soon as he returned to Canada after the G-20, i.e. on September 15.

India was Canada’s tenth largest trading partner in the year 2022. India had exported goods worth $ 4.10 billion to Canada in the year 2022-23 and had exported goods worth $ 3.76 billion a year earlier i.e. in the year 2021-22. About 600 Canadian companies are also operating in India.
