David Reimer’s death changed thinking

Reimer was a Canadian man who was biologically born male but raised female after his penis was accidentally destroyed during a botched circumcision. Money believed that the world is so binary in terms of men and women that we have to figure out ways to help people deal with it, and that was one of Money’s big mistakes regarding the Reimer case. Mani realized that a boy without a penis would not be considered a boy. Reimer suffered from depression throughout his life. Reimer later committed suicide. This incident changed John Money’s thinking and he started working on it better.
