Estimated read time 4 min read

Tar Fencing Yojana: In the expansive realm of agriculture, where the hard work of farmers sustains our communities, ensuring the security of their crops is a matter of utmost importance. The constant threat posed by wild animals and livestock can wreak havoc on standing crops, endangering the livelihoods of our dedicated farmers. To address this concern, the Government of Gujarat has introduced a visionary scheme designed to protect farmers’ valuable crops by offering financial assistance for the installation of iron barbed wire fences around their fields.

The Purpose of the Tar Fencing Yojana

The primary goal of this scheme is crystal clear: to shield the valuable crops of farmers from the relentless threat posed by deer and wild boars, ensuring that their diligent efforts do not go in vain. By erecting sturdy and reliable barbed wire fences, the government aims to create a robust barrier against wildlife and livestock, effectively reducing crop damage.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

Now, let’s delve into the essential details of how farmers can take advantage of this invaluable scheme. To qualify for the scheme, farmers must form clusters and submit applications through the I Khedut portal. Each cluster should consist of farmers jointly applying for assistance, with one farmer designated as the group leader.

It’s important to note that all applicants must own a minimum land area of 5 hectares to be eligible for this scheme. To ensure a smooth application process, farmers must provide comprehensive details of their group, including bank account information. This information is crucial for expediting the disbursement of assistance to eligible beneficiaries.

Application Procedure and Selection Process

The selection process is a vital step in ensuring fairness and transparency in the allocation of assistance for barbed Tar fencing. To achieve this, the Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation conducts a computerized online draw of applications. Those whose applications are not chosen in the current draw will be considered for the next year’s selection.

Benefits of the Tar Fencing Yojana

The appeal of this scheme lies not only in its noble purpose but also in the financial support it offers. The assistance is provided in two phases:

  1. First Phase: After verifying the piles erected by the farmers, 50% assistance will be disbursed. This amounts to Rs. 100 per running meter or 50% of the total cost incurred, depending on which is lower.
  2. Second Phase: The remaining 50% assistance, again Rs. 100 per running meter or 50% of the cost incurred, will be disbursed upon the completion of the entire fencing work to Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd. Payment will be made upon receipt of an inspection report, including precise location details.

Documentation Required for Availing the Tar Fencing Yojana

To facilitate the application process and establish eligibility, farmers are required to provide specific documents, including:

  • Details of Khedrat or Farmers Group along with the application.
  • Bank account details for seamless fund transfers.
  • Copies of land ownership documents (7/12 and 8A) and Aadhar cards.
  • An affidavit confirming payment to the group leader formed by the farmers.
  • An agreement demonstrating the collective commitment of farmers to execute the fencing work as a group.
  • A declaration affirming that farmers have not previously availed the benefits of the wire fencing scheme.

In conclusion, the Government of Gujarat, through its Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, has launched a commendable initiative aimed at safeguarding the livelihoods of farmers. By providing financial assistance for barbed wire fencing, this scheme acts as a protective shield against the menace of wildlife and livestock, ensuring that our farmers can continue to nourish our nation without the fear of crop damage.

As we celebrate the dedication of our farmers, let us also commend the vision of this scheme, which serves as a beacon of support in their tireless journey. Together, through initiatives like these, we can fortify our agricultural sector, securing the prosperity of those who feed our nation.
