Israeli rescue service Zaka said its paramedics pulled out about 260 bodies from an all-night music festival near the Gaza Strip, where thousands of people were killed in an attack by Palestine-based Hamas militants on Saturday. The total figure is expected to be higher as other paramedic teams were working in the area.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed that about 1,000 Hamas fighters took part in the mass attack. The Israeli government formally declared war on Sunday and gave the green light to a significant military move to respond to Hamas’ surprise attack. The Israeli army tried to crush the fighters still in the southern cities and intensified the bombardment of the Gaza Strip. The death toll exceeded 1,100 and thousands of people from both sides were injured.
