Pakistani Beggars In Middle East Countries: Pakistan has created a new problem for the Middle East countries. The report has revealed that a large number of Pakistani beggars are roaming in Middle East countries. According to a report shared with Pakistani lawmakers, 90 percent of professional beggars arrested in Middle-East countries belong to Pakistan.

The report has revealed that most of the Pakistanis are involved in crimes like pickpocketing around the prestigious Grand Mosque of Saudi Arabia. On Wednesday, in the meeting of the Standing Committee of Overseas Pakistanis under the chairmanship of Senator Manzoor Kakkar, it was emphasized that a large number of beggars from Pakistan are moving to other countries.

Secretary of Pakistani Overseas Ministry, Zulfikar Haider has expressed concern about Pakistani reputation. He said, “Pakistan’s beggars are leaving the country in large numbers; they use the sea route to go abroad.”

Zulfikar Haider told that beggars go to foreign countries on pilgrimage visa and go there and beg from the pilgrims. Because of this the image of Pakistanis is getting tarnished. Haider said that because of the beggars leaving the country, Iraq and Saudi Arabia constantly complain that we are sending beggars to their country. He further said, “The jails of Iraq and Saudi Arabia are full of Pakistani beggars.”

Leaders worried about Pakistan’s reputation

Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune reported that during the meeting, Senator Rana Mahmudul Hasan drew the members’ attention to the low representation of Pakistani workers abroad. He told that compared to Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have sent more workers to Japan, whereas Pakistan has sent only 200 workers to Japan.

He stressed that Pakistan should send engineers, nurses, IT experts and skilled professionals from paramedical and pharmaceutical sectors abroad, this would enhance the prestige of the country. “If we send professionals abroad, our remuneration will increase and our credibility (with other countries) will improve,” Haider said.
