America, Britain, Canada, Australia and Israel consider Hamas a terrorist group, while in some countries only its military wing is considered a terrorist group. Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu has even compared Hamas with the dreaded terrorist group ISIS. What is Hamas’s governing structure and how does it work? Let us know the answers to all these questions-

Governing Structure of Hamas
The Politburo runs the general policies related to Hamas. Wherever the organization has control in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, local committees are responsible for looking after the ground issues. Politburo, Shura Council, Delegation Onboard, West Bank Affairs, Imprisoned Members Affairs, Gazan Affairs, Palestine Diasporic Affairs, Social Welfare, Izz ad-Dayn al-Qassam Brigades, Independent Operating Cell, Hamas Government, Ministries, Local Authorities and Security Forces , are part of Hamas.

Who handles which wing
The most important part of Hamas is the Politburo, which has 15 members. The head of the Politburo is Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. The Politburo itself makes the strategy of Hamas. Its leaders sit in other countries and control the entire organization. These members are the heads of different wings of the organization. There are two wings associated with the Politburo, Delegation Aboard and Shura Council. The Shura Council is a consultative body that selects the members of the Politburo. However, there is no information regarding the number of its members. There are four wings associated with the Shura Council – West Bank Affairs, Imprisoned Members Affairs, Gazan Affairs, Palestine Diasporic Affairs. These four are very important parts of the organization and the leaders running them are also in the news these days. Saleh Al-Arori is in charge of West Bank Affairs, Salameh Katwai is in charge of Imprisoned Members Affairs, Yahya Sinwar is in charge of Gazan Affairs and Khaled Mishal is in charge of Palestine Diasporic Affairs. Gazan Affairs operates in three parts: social welfare and its military wing, the Izd-Din al-Qassam Brigades and the Independent Operating Cell. The Gaza Strip is controlled by the Qasm Brigade, the military wing of Hamas and the responsibility of running it lies with Marwan Issa and Mohammad Zaif. Qassam Brigade is being said to be the mastermind of the latest attacks in Israel. The Gaza Strip is run by the Hamas government, whose Prime Minister is Issam al-Daalis. The policies of the Hamas government continue in the Gaza Strip. Under this there are ministries, local authorities and security forces.
