China-Russia: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are going to meet this week. This meeting between the two leaders will take place in China. According to Reuters report, it is believed that the purpose of this meeting is to strengthen the Russia-China partnership against America. Putin’s visit to China is taking place at a time when information has come to light that there may be a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Putin at the end of the year.

Actually, Putin is going to participate in the Belt and Road Forum being held in Beijing on 17-18 October. In the month of March this year, the Hague-based International Criminal Court issued a warrant against the Russian President for the deportation of children from Ukraine. After this he did not participate in many foreign forums. At the same time, this will be his first trip outside Russia after the issuance of this warrant. The meeting of India’s ‘friend’ Putin with Jinping is going to be important. India will also keep an eye on this, so that China’s moves can be understood.

What is the main objective of this meeting?

China and Russia announced ‘no limit’ partnership in February 2022. A few days later, Putin ordered an attack on Ukraine. In this way the biggest war in Europe after World War II began. America sees China as its biggest rival. Besides, he considers Russia as the biggest threat to his country. China and Russia also know this. This is the reason why both have decided to strengthen their partnership, so that they can stand against America. Strengthening relations will be the main objective during the meeting between Putin and Jinping.

China-Russia relations strengthened in a decade

Graham Ellison, Harvard University professor and former Assistant Secretary of Defense in Bill Clinton’s government, talked about the meeting between Putin and Jinping. He said, ‘In the last decade, Jinping, together with Putin, has created the most powerful undeclared alliance in the world.’ He says that America has to understand that its emerging rival and the country that owns the largest number of nuclear bombs in the world is coming closer to each other. This means that they will stand against him.
