Saudi analyst Aziz Alghashian said, “Efforts to normalize relations between Arabs and Israelis were already considered difficult. Now after this war, it may come to an almost complete halt.”
What is America’s stance?
Although US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told a White House briefing this week that normalization efforts between the two countries are “not on hold”, the focus is currently on confronting other challenges.
Asked about Raisi’s call with the crown prince, a senior US State Department official said Washington is in “constant contact with Saudi leaders”. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has also talked to his Saudi counterpart several times in this regard.
