COVID-19: Corona is once again spreading rapidly in Singapore. In such a situation, the country’s Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has issued a warning. On Friday, the Health Minister issued a warning saying that more people could fall ill in the coming weeks. Along with this, the number of patients in the hospital may increase due to being infected with Corona virus.

Ong said estimated daily cases have increased from about 1,000 three weeks ago to 2,000 in the past two weeks. Which are worrying. The Health Minister said that in the new cases related to Covid-19, two types of variants are generally seen. Which includes EG.5 and HK.3. Both of them are descendants of XBB Omicron. ‘In the daily cases of infection, 75 percent of the patients are getting infected by these two variants.’

Corona cases are increasing rapidly

While talking to Channel News Asia, the Health Minister said that there is a need to be cautious in view of the increasing cases of Covid. We are not thinking of imposing any kind of restrictions at present. The government has no plans to impose social restrictions.

He further said that we will consider it as an endemic disease. He said that no one needs to tell us how to defend ourselves. The new variant is more likely to be serious, but it is clear that existing vaccines are doing a good job in protecting us from serious illness if infected with this new variant.

More people may get infected

Ong reiterated his point, warning Singapore against letting down its guard against Covid-19. The health minister said, “In the coming weeks, we should expect more people to fall ill and, if so, the number of hospitalizations to increase.”
