Cholera Outbreak In Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe is in the grip of cholera. There is a possibility of death of more than 100 people across the country due to this disease. Zimbabwe’s Health Ministry has also issued an alert regarding this. It has also been said that for the first time after the year 2018, such a situation has arisen, which is very worrying.

According to the Health Ministry report, a total of 4,609 suspected cholera cases have been registered in the country, of which 935 have been confirmed. So far 30 people have died due to this serious disease. Earlier in June, Zimbabwe’s neighboring country South Africa had to face an outbreak of diarrhea. It is noteworthy that more than 4,000 people died during the cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe in 2008 and 2009.

According to the Health Ministry, cholera has spread rapidly across the country due to contaminated water. People who have been admitted to hospital due to waterborne disease. Most of them have similar symptoms. Most of the patients are suffering from severe diarrhea and vomiting. In such a situation, the government has appealed to the people to cooperate in providing clean water and health services in rural areas.

How does this disease spread?
Cholera bacteria live in dirty water. It is also found in some seafood, raw fruits, vegetables and some grains. Through these things, this bacteria enters the human body and after reaching the intestine, infects the human being.

As soon as the bacteria multiply in the intestine, they cause diarrhea in the infected patient. It happens suddenly. After this, the patient starts vomiting and nausea and within an hour diarrhea starts, due to which water starts coming out from the body. Also, dehydration starts within an hour. The weight of a cholera infected patient very soon reduces by 10 percent.
