China Control Over Pakistani Media: An official US report says that China has woven a web of international operations to create narrative in the media and control Pakistani media. The US State Department said in a report released last week that China has worked closely with Russia to meet its needs such as information and propaganda for its own benefit. To create an environment in its favor, China is involving many nearby countries in this campaign, which also includes Pakistan.

The US State Department report states, ‘The Chinese government has sought cooperation with Pakistan in ‘countering disinformation’ against China through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) media forum. China and Pakistan say they use the CPEC media forum to combat propaganda and ‘misinformation’. Both countries have launched initiatives like ‘CPEC Rapid Response Information Network’ and recently decided to launch the China-Pakistan Media Corridor (CPMC).

‘Dragon’ move to control Pakistani media

A 2021 US State Department report said that China has established the China Pakistan Media Corridor to gain control over Pakistani media, so that information can be presented in Pakistan in an arbitrary manner.

The report alleged that China spends billions of dollars annually to use foreign news in its favor. The Chinese government uses false or biased information to present positive news about China and the Communist Party (CCP).
