In the month of November 2022, India was going to test a ballistic missile in the Bay of Bengal. A no-fly zone warning had also been given in the area where the missile was tested. But, at the same time, China launched its spy ship Yuan Wang-6 in the Indian Ocean region. Due to this Chinese ship, India had to postpone the date of testing of ballistic missile by a few days.

Exactly one year after this, i.e. in the month of October 2023, India is going to test another missile in the Bay of Bengal, from October 5 to 9, from the Bay of Bengal to the Indian Ocean for the long-range ballistic missile test. It has been announced to create a fly zone. But, even before this test, China has launched another spy ship Xi Yan-6 in the Indian Ocean. According to the information currently available, this ship is on the ridge of 90 degrees east longitude in the middle of the Indian Ocean and is continuously moving towards Sri Lanka."text-align: justify;">According to a report, from 2019 till now i.e. in the last four years, China has deployed about 48 Chinese scientific research ships in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), in which the general area of deployment is the Bay of Bengal and South Asia as well as Persia. On the Gulf side is the Arabian Sea.

In this report, we will know why the mission of China’s ship Xi Yan-6 to Sri Lanka is so dangerous for India and how it is increasing the concern.

First let us know what this Xi-Yan 6 is

Xi Yan 6 is a so-called Chinese research ship. According to China, this ship conducts research with the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA). However, experts believe that this is a Chinese spy ship.

The Shi Yan 6 ship is a key project of China’s 13th Five-Year Plan to build science and education infrastructure. Two years after its inauguration, the ship successfully made its maiden voyage in the Eastern Indian Ocean in 2022. Sri Lanka’s Ranil Wickremesinghe government has given permission to dock this Chinese research vessel at Colombo port in October.

Approval has been received to live in Sri Lankan waters

Xi Yan-6 is currently in the Indian Ocean and is currently moving towards Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe inaugurated the vehicle in July We have also given permission to stay in Sri Lankan waters till November 2023.

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister has confidence in India

However, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri said as soon as the ship landed in the Indian Ocean, ‘Sri Lanka has not allowed the Chinese ship to stop at its port in October. Talks are currently ongoing regarding this.

He said, ‘Colombo has not allowed the Chinese ship Xi Yan 6 to approach Sri Lanka due to Indian security concerns. He said that Indian security concerns are important for Sri Lanka. Along with this he further said that talks are going on and if the ship follows the standard operating procedures of Sri Lanka, there will be no problem.’

Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror had claimed in its report that China’s exploration ship may stop in Sri Lanka in the month of October. India has been keeping a close watch on this ship for more than a month. The Chinese spy ship reached the Indian Ocean from the Strait of Malacca on September 23 and left its home port Guangzhou on September 10 and was seen in Singapore on September 14.

Why is the landing of the ship a danger for India

Actually, this Chinese spy ship has landed in the Indian Ocean at a time when India was about to conduct user-trials of ballistic missiles. In such a situation, if India conducts the test, then this spy ship can know the intelligence information of the Indian missile. China may know the speed, range and accuracy of this missile.

Something similar had happened last year also. When a few days before India’s test, China left its spy ships in the Indian Ocean. It is clear from this action of China that this country is trying to provoke India by doing this again and again.

A few weeks ago, a separate warship of the Chinese Navy, HAI YANG 24 HAO, with surveillance capabilities was also docked at the Colombo port. The continuous deployment of Chinese ships so close to Indian territory has raised national security concerns. It is believed that the radar system fitted in these ships can be used to monitor the activities of important Indian defense sites deployed in coastal areas."text-align: justify;">Apart from this, the increasing presence and activities of the Chinese Navy in the Indian Ocean region also remains a matter of concern and discussion for Indian policy makers and security experts.

China’s dominance in the Indian Ocean a headache for India

In fact, relations between India and China have deteriorated since the military clash in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh in 2020. According to security experts, this tension is now being felt in the Indian Ocean also because both the countries want to establish their dominance in this area.

In the last few years, India’s neighboring country China has been rapidly increasing the modernization of its naval capabilities. The Chinese Navy has included a large number of aircraft carriers, surface warships and military submarines in its fleet.

"string of pearls" China wants to do politics

The strategy under which China is working in the Indian Ocean "string of pearls" Known as. This strategy involves the creation and protection of strategic ports and infrastructure in countries around the Indian Ocean that can be used for military purposes if needed.

It is believed that China "Pearls" are being built to help build strategic relationships with many countries on sea routes. China is building a port in Gwadar, Pakistan. Apart from this, Djibouti is building a port in the Horn of Africa. This country has also taken Hambantota of Sri Lanka on a lease of 99 years. These ports are helpful to China in increasing its naval reach and influence in the Indian Ocean region.

How much threat does India face from China?

China’s increasing influence in the Indian Ocean is a permanent challenge for India. There is no doubt that China has a very strong presence on its maritime border and it is increasing with time. In such a situation, India is bound to be worried about the intentions of China, which has an expansionist policy.

Why does China want to provoke India

In fact, if any country can stop China’s expansionism in Asia and the Indo-Pacific region, it is only India. In such a situation, China has been uprooted from India for the last few years, especially since India’s inclination towards America.

Is this why India is growing closer to America

In the last one and a half year, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of India have visited America several times. These tours are being viewed from many perspectives. Some experts believe that in the last few years, India has become closer to America and away from Russia. Some say that America is trying to strengthen India against China. Political experts also believe that one of the reasons for the closeness of the two countries could be that America wants to sell arms to India and has its eyes on India’s huge market. Solid arguments are being given behind these three things.

In an interview given to India Today, Indian-American journalist Fareed Zakaria says, ‘India’s move closer to America is not a surprising step considering the increase in China’s power and border aggression in the last few years. Although the relations between India and Russia are very old and deep, but India cannot face China on the basis of Russia. It should also not be forgotten that after the war in Ukraine, Moscow has become a junior partner of Beijing. Now China can bend Russia according to its own.

China has established its dominance in the South China Sea.

Actually, China has China has established its dominance in the Sea and is also becoming increasingly powerful in the Indo-Pacific. In such a situation, India needs America somewhere to deal with China. On the other hand, America is looking for a partner who is not only democratic but also powerful. America is constantly looking for an alternative to China and India fits in perfectly there.
