Japan Radio Active Water: The second batch of radioactive water will start being released into the sea from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant from next week. For the first time, 7800 tons of water was released on August 24, due to which Japan’s neighboring countries got angry. China was also included among the angry countries. According to Tokyo Electric Power Company, Japan will now release reactor water into the sea from October 5.

China banned the import of all Japanese seafood after the first release, although the ban was lifted on September 11. Russia is also considering banning Japanese seafood items.

Concern increased due to nuclear reactor explosion

It is noteworthy that due to tsunami in 2011, there was massive destruction in the nuclear reactor of Japan’s Fukushima power plant. The cooling system of the nuclear reactor was destroyed due to the tsunami, due to which three reactors melted. Therefore, a total of 13 lakh 40 thousand tonnes of water has been used so far in 2011 to cool the melted reactor.

This water cannot be left in the open after use because due to coming in contact with the reactor, radioactive elements dissolve in this water which is dangerous for human health.

But Japan argues that the water released into the sea is safe in all respects because the radioactive elements will be filtered from the water, after which there is no threat to human health as well as marine life. However, questions were also raised on Japan’s claims that no matter how much water is purified, it is impossible to filter out the tritium element from it. Because of this many countries have expressed concern. Japan argued this by saying that small amounts of tritium in water would not cause any harm.
