Pakistan Taliban Crisis: Tension between Pakistan and Taliban has increased in the last few years. The reason for this tension is the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This terrorist organization has carried out many major attacks in Pakistan. Now the Government of Pakistan has taken a big decision to control TTP. According to the report of Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune, the government has decided to send back all illegal Afghan refugees.
The report quoted official sources as saying that the caretaker federal cabinet has approved the decision to deport about 11 lakh Afghan refugees living illegally in Pakistan. However, there has been no official confirmation yet from the interim government in this regard. Acting Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has also not said anything on this yet.
There are around 40 lakh refugees
According to the report, since the return of Afghan Taliban to Afghanistan in August 2021, about 4 lakh Afghans have entered Pakistan illegally. Apart from this, another 7 lakh Afghans have also been identified, who are living illegally in the country. Now the cabinet has given permission to send all these 11 lakh Afghans back to their homeland. It is being told that these 11 lakh Afghan refugees neither have any visa nor any valid document allowing them to live in Pakistan. He also claimed that most of these illegal refugees are involved in anti-state and criminal activities, hence they will be sent back as soon as possible. According to sources, the number of refugees living in Pakistan is around 40 lakh.
