The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 6.3 kilometers. The USGS said in its report that the epicenter of the latest earthquake was 30 kilometers northwest of Herat, Afghanistan’s third-largest city near the Iranian border.
A magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred 32.8 km south, southeast of Herat center at 08:06 today (Sunday) Afghanistan Time, USGS said.
