However, it is another matter that the US and NATO allies have dismissed concerns about their ability to continue military support to Ukraine after the Gaza-based terrorist group Hamas’ attack on Israel. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed happiness over this during his conversation with the Secretary General of the Arab League. It also acknowledged that America’s focus on the Israeli conflict has resulted in slowing down of arms supplies to Ukraine. In such a situation, Russia would like to take full advantage of this.
Russia-Ukraine conflict started in February last year
It is noteworthy that Russia had attacked Ukraine in February last year. Since then it has continued between the two countries. Countries around the world have tried to bring about reconciliation between the two but things have not been successful. At the time of the attack on Ukraine, Russia had named it a special military operation, the objective of which was to overthrow the US-backed government from Ukraine.
Why is Israel asking for weapons?
There is no doubt that Israel’s current weapons stockpile is quite large. However, as a precautionary measure, Israel has demanded more weapons from its allies. Along with this, America has sent a consignment of its modern weapons to Israel. In such a situation, Russia feels that as long as the war between Israel and Hamas continues, America will not be able to provide help to Ukraine. In such a situation, Russia has a big opportunity.
Ukraine may face shortage of weapons
Former US Marine Colonel Mark Cancian said that the Israeli army will start using munitions on a large scale as soon as the ground action in Gaza begins. In such a situation, despite having plenty of weapons, Israel is worried. Along with this, he said that even though America has not stopped deliveries to Ukraine, it may slow down those shipments. This means they can only attack the highest priority targets.
