Pakistan Terrorist Shahid Latif: India’s Pathankot attack mastermind Shahid Latif was killed on Wednesday (October 11). Let us tell you that Shahid Latif was a resident of Gujranwala city of Pakistan. He was one of the most wanted terrorists of India. In the year 2016, he had helped in infiltrating 4 terrorists into Pathankot Air Force.

Shahid Latif was known as the launching commander of Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). A report said that Latif, sitting in Pakistan, coordinated with four Jaish terrorists and sent them to Pathankot to attack the airbase. Shahid Latif was arrested in India in 1994 on terrorism charges. After this he was sent to Pakistan in the year 2010. He had also been an accused in the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in 1999.

On January 2, 2016, the Air Force airbase in Pathankot was attacked by heavily armed terrorists. Seven security personnel and one civilian were killed in the firing that lasted for almost four days. Four attackers were also killed in this encounter.

A day later, on January 3, another security officer died at the airbase after an IED blast. Investigation of the attack revealed that the attackers belonged to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group. After this, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the investigation of the Pathankot terrorist attack in March.

Jaish-e-Mohammed Islamic extremist group
Jaish-e-Mohammed is an Islamic extremist group based in Pakistan. It was formed by Masood Azhar after his release from prison in India in early 2000. The objective of this group was to unite Kashmir with Pakistan. It is politically associated with the fundamentalist political party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazlur Rehman faction (JUI-F).

Terrorists killed in Pakistan this year
Many such terrorists, who were most wanted in India, have been killed in Pakistan this year. Among them, Riyaz Ahmed alias Abu Qasim was shot dead by unidentified gunmen inside a mosque in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir last month.

Before that, in March, a top commander of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen was shot dead by unknown assailants in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. In February, unknown gunmen shot dead former Al-Badr Mujahideen commander Syed Khalid Raza in the port city of Karachi.
