War is a matter in itself

Will war give solution to what problems…

Had Sahir Ludhianvi, who wrote this couplet in the 20th century, been alive today, he would have been quite disappointed. On October 7, another war started in the world. There was never a peaceful atmosphere between Israel and Palestine, but on Saturday morning, Hamas, which has control over the Gaza Strip, fired thousands of rockets at Israel. In response, Israel also declared war.

On the fourth day of the war, the situation is such that on one side the Israeli army is continuously attacking Hamas, while on the other side the terrorist organization – Hamas (which is in favor of Palestine) has also continued attacking Israel. Thousands of innocent lives have been lost so far in this ongoing war between the two countries. Videos of the war are going viral everywhere on social media. In these videos, a mother is holding her injured child in her arms and pleading for help, while a child is seen crying near the dead bodies of his family.

This ongoing conflict between the two countries has divided not only the politicians of these countries but also the entire country into different groups.  Have gone. In such a report, we will give you answers to those questions related to Israel and Palestine, about which it is very important for everyone to know.

1. How old is the Israel-Palestine conflict?"text-align: justify;">The Jerusalem that is today was part of Babylon and then the Ottoman Empire 4000 years ago. At that time Jews were tortured here. Due to atrocities, Jews gradually left Jerusalem and started settling in other countries of Europe. Between 1941-45, i.e. during the Second World War, Hitler tortured and massacred the Jews in Germany. After which, after the war ended, the Jews decided to go back to their land.

The place where Palestine and Israel are today was occupied by Britain. Britain tried to create Israel for the Jews by compromising with Palestine. At that time Arabs used to live in Palestine. Britain, which failed to end the conflict between Arabs and Jews, withdrew its security forces from Palestine in 1947 and handed over the issue to the newly created organization United Nations (UN) to solve the problem of Arabs and Jews. After which the UN decided to divide Palestine into two parts. According to the Hebrew calendar, 70 years of Israel’s declaration of independence are being completed.

After the formation of Israel, millions of Palestinian Arabs had to flee. On the other hand, about six lakh Jewish refugees from Arab countries and two and a half lakh people who survived in Europe during the World War settled there within a few years of the establishment of Israel. This more than doubled the number of Jews in Israel.

2. Why have both countries been fighting over the area of Al-Aqsa Mosque?"text-align: justify;">UN divided Palestine and Israel into two separate parts but got stuck on Al Aqsa Mosque and Temple Mount in Jerusalem. In fact, the city of Jerusalem holds a very special place in the three religions of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. All three religions, which connect Prophet Ibrahim with their history, consider Jerusalem as their holy place."text-align: justify;">Christian holy place: ‘The Church of the Holy Sepulcher’ is in the Christian area of Jerusalem.  ‘The Church of the Holy Sepulcher’ is situated at the same place where Jesus Christ died, was crucified and from here he descended. According to Datar Christian traditions, Jesus Christ was crucified here on ‘Golgotha’.

Holy places of Muslims:Jerusalem has the Dome of the Rock and Masjid Al Aqsa. This mosque is considered the third holiest place in Islam. Muslims believe that Prophet Mohammed had traveled from Mecca to here in just one night and had discussed with the souls of the prophets here. Just a few steps away from the Al Aqsa Mosque is the sacred site of the Dome of the Rocks, which also houses the sacred stone. It is believed that Prophet Mohammad had traveled to heaven from here. Every day thousands of people come to Al Aqsa Mosque to pray.

Holy Wall of the Jews: The Western Wall of the Jews is in Jerusalem itself. This is the remaining part of the Wall of the Mount. It is believed that the holy temple of the Jews, The Holy of Holies, was once located at this very place. This was the holiest place for the Jews. Jews believe that this is the place from where the world was created and it is here that Prophet Ibrahim prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac. Many Jews believe that the Dome of the Rock is actually the Holy of Holies."text-align: justify;">In such a situation, a dispute started between Arabs and Jews regarding this city. In view of this, the UN placed the 35-acre campus of Al-Aqsa Mosque under the supervision of the International Committee. However, at that time the Arab countries did not like keeping the Al Aqsa Mosque campus under the supervision of the International Committee. In May 1948, war broke out between Arabs and Israelis over this city. At that time Arab countries like Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Egypt attacked Israel.

3.  When and why was Jerusalem divided into two parts

When the war ended in 1948, the city of Jerusalem was divided into two parts, East and West. Jordan had control over the eastern part and Israel over the west.

In the year 1967, Israel was once again attacked by the Arab countries (Egypt, Syria and Jordan). Arab countries had to face defeat in this war that lasted for 6 days. In this war, Al Aqsa and Temple Mount areas were captured by Israel and Israel allowed the Al Aqsa Mosque with its 35 acre campus to remain with the Waqf Trust.

4. How many times has Israel gone to war with Arab countries till now?"text-align: justify;">After 1967, a war-like situation has arisen between Israel and Palestine. In the month of October 1973, Arab countries suddenly attacked Israel. However, this time too Israel forced the Arab countries to retreat. After this, in December 2008, Israel attacked Gaza for three consecutive weeks. In retaliation, Palestine also attacked Israel. Thousands of people of Palestine lost their lives in this attack.

In November 2012, Israel had killed the military chief of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas. Even at that time, about 150 Palestinians had died. Two years later, in June 2014, Hamas abducted and killed three Israeli youth. In response to which Israel launched rocket attacks on Gaza and more than 2000 Palestinians lost their lives in that attack.

In the year 2017, America declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel, due to which angry Palestinians protested fiercely and many violent incidents also took place.

In May 2021, Israeli police raided Al Aqsa Mosque, due to which angry Hamas started attacking Israel with rockets. Rockets were also fired from Israel.

5. Which areas are included in Palestine

First of all we understand about the geographical location of Israel and Palestine. There are two different regions in Israel, the southwestern part and the eastern part. The south-western part is known as the Gaza Strip and the eastern part is known as the West Bank and the West Bank and Gaza Strip itself is considered Palestine. However, the Gaza Strip is controlled by Hamas, an anti-Israel extremist organization, which runs the Palestine National Authority government in the West Bank.

6. What is the demand of Palestine and Israel?"text-align: justify;">At present Palestine demands that Israel be limited to the pre-1967 international borders and establish an independent Palestine state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Palestine wants the Palestine refugees who lost their homes in 1948 to return. Can come. Apart from this, Palestine wants to make East Jerusalem the capital of the independent Palestine nation. Israel considers Jerusalem as its integral part and hence wants sovereignty over Jerusalem. Israel demands that the entire world recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

7. How many Palestinians are living in the Gaza Strip?

There is a small area situated between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea named Gaza Strip. This region is said to be the most densely populated region in the world. The Palestinian extremist organization Hamas is active in Gaza and is attacking Israel from here. The Gaza Strip is an area approximately ten kilometers wide and 41 kilometers long.

There is a population of more than 20 lakh here and on an average about 5,500 people live per square kilometer. There are Palestinians living in Gaza Strip. The people living here include both natives and refugees. After the establishment of Israel in 1948, the displaced Palestinians came to live here. Most people living in the Gaza Strip live in the north, especially in Gaza City. The population here is very young, about 40% of the population is below 15 years of age.
