Russia Nuclear Test Hint: Russian President Vladimir Putin has hinted that Russia may test nuclear weapons again and withdraw its support from the historic Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

In an address on Thursday that touched on topics such as nuclear weapons, energy and the war in Ukraine, Putin said Russia had tested a new nuclear missile delivery system but had not decided whether to use explosives for the test, according to Al-Jazeera. Should it be started again or not?

‘No one can think of using nuclear weapons against Russia’

“I think that no one with a strong mind and a clear memory would think of using nuclear weapons against Russia,” Putin said in a speech at a forum of foreign policy experts in Sochi, Russia. “I have heard calls to restart nuclear weapons testing. I am not ready to say whether we really need to test or not,” he said.

Putin said that it is theoretically possible for Russia to withdraw from the Nuclear Ban Treaty, but no decision has been taken in this regard yet. He said that Russia has effectively developed the Burevestnik cruise missile and the Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile. “We conducted the last successful test of the Burevestnik nuclear-powered global range cruise missile,” he said.

Not much is known about Burevestnik. It is believed to be capable of carrying a nuclear explosive or another conventional missile. It can cover very long distances.
