Hajj Yatra Cost: The Hajj pilgrimage of Muslims to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia begins every year in the month of Dhu al-Hajja. Dhu al-Hajja is the 12th month of the Islamic calendar year. Crores of people from all over the world go to perform Hajj every year. Every year lakhs of people from India also perform Hajj. It is said in the religion of Islam that every person must perform Haj pilgrimage once in his life, but this journey is not so easy. Not everyone can do it even if they want to. Actually, the biggest obstacle in this is funds. The average cost of Haj pilgrimage is Rs 3 to 4 lakh. This amount also increases. The big question is where so much money is spent on Haj pilgrimage.

This is the way to go to Hajj

Talking about India, Haj can be done in two ways from here. The first way is through Haj Committee and the second is through private tour. According to the new rule, 80 percent of the 1 lakh 75 thousand pilgrims are sent through the Haj Committee. The remaining 20 percent people perform Hajj on private tours.

it costs so much money

If we look at the expenses of Haj Committee, on an average one has to pay Rs 3 to 4 lakh for Haj pilgrimage. At the same time, if they go through private arrangement, they spend up to Rs 5 lakh. However, in the new policy, the government has reduced the Haj package by up to Rs 50 thousand. Earlier, while applying for Haj, money was taken for bags, suitcases, umbrellas etc., but now this charge will not have to be paid.

this is where your money is spent

The air ticket during Haj pilgrimage is usually the same as for a flight to that country, but the real money is spent upon reaching Saudi Arabia. After reaching here, you need transport, restaurant, mobile etc. and you have to pay for it. This charge increases after reaching Mecca. After reaching Mecca you need a hotel to stay. Coming here, you have to shell out the most money. Travel companies take full advantage of this opportunity and charge huge sums of money from Haj pilgrims.

Last year, the 10-day Hajj event brought in nearly $10 billion (£6.2 billion) for Saudi Arabia, according to the Chamber of Commerce in Mecca. The highest rents for hotels and restaurants in Saudi Arabia are in Mecca city itself. Hotels near the main mosque charge 700 dollars i.e. 5 to 6 thousand rupees for one night. Hotel owners blame the skyrocketing prices of land here for this. Due to high crowd here and high demand for hotels, normal hotels are not available to stay. Most of the hotels have tall buildings and their charges are also expensive.

Expenses also incurred in purchasing souvenirs

While leaving Mecca after performing Hajj, most of the people take souvenirs from there. The price of these souvenirs is up to three times more. People buy these souvenirs for their relatives, friends and relatives.
