United Nations: During the 54th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the issue of disappearance of people in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces of Pakistan was raised. This issue was raised by Baloch and Pashtun political activists in the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday.

Baloch Voice Association President Munir Mengal drew the council’s attention to this serious humanitarian crisis in the Balochistan region. Questioning the Pakistan government, he said that the government is violating the fundamental rights and freedoms of its own people. During this, he also said something serious about the issue of disappearance of people in Balochistan.

Questions raised on Pakistani government

Munir Mengal said, “Forcible disappearance of people is extremely worrying and inhumane. This practice has been going on in Balochistan for a long time. Thousands of innocent people have disappeared and there is no information about them. There is no way for the families of the missing people to Understandably, they are suffering greatly. This issue not only violates the most basic human rights, but also undermines the principles of justice and accountability on which the United Nations is founded.”

He further said, “In August 2023, Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has documented and verified reports of 56 cases of disappearance of Baloch people. This includes two women and 26 students.”

Munir Mengal said, “Dr. Deen Mohammad, Zakir Majeed, Zahid Kiurad, Rashid Hussain, Hameed Zehri, Taj Mohammad Sarpara and thousands of family members are waiting for their safe recovery.”

China is also surrounded

Activists of Pakistan’s Balochistan province said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under China’s BRI project has badly affected the lives of the people. Political activist Naseem Baloch said that a large number of people in Balochistan are facing serious difficulties due to Chinese construction projects. Naseem Baloch drew attention to the impact of China’s project in Gwadar area. CPEC connects China’s Xinjiang province to Pakistan’s Gwadar port.
